Freelance Producer and Project Manager with significant experience of creative production roles, especially within the heritage sector. I deliver projects with enthusiasm, attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the client’s brief. I’m also very much a friendly people-person, with (I hope!) a good sense of humour and ability to work well under pressure. I have gone freelance whilst undertaking a part-time Masters.
Elbow is a small company that specialises in providing audio-visual productions for the museums and heritage sector. I have continued freelance work with them and below is a brief summary of the different skills I developed whilst there: · Production of Creative Treatments, Wireframes, Storyboards and Scripts for client review. This has included my own input to copywriting and the use of the Adobe suite – InDesign in particular. · Project Budget management, from providing initial external client quote to completion and cost/benefit analysis. I’ve delivered notable profits on all my productions, working on projects ranging from £15k - £500k. This has included creating and keeping check on project payment schedules, submitting project invoices and working fluently with Excel. · Main point of contact for high profile client teams and new inquiries. These have included English Heritage, the British Museum and the V&A. I’ve received very positive client feedback on all my productions. · Project scheduling, using project management software eg. ClickUp and ConceptDraw. Maintained healthy project timetable contingency and I’ve quickly reacted to internal/external events. I deliver projects on time. · Managed external freelancers, from cameramen to actors. I’ve raised and written purchase orders, dealt with fee negotiations and managed intricate project expenses where necessary. · Produced complex shoot days, either on-site, abroad or in studio. I’ve provided hands-on input during pre- and post- production, the small size of the company allowing me a broad breadth of experience in all stages.
HiddenCity makes immersive street trails through the streets of London - think office parties, birthdays, corporate training etc. Although I was technically freelance, I often worked close to full-time with the company through the time period outlined above. Below is a list of some of my activities whilst there: · Production of ‘Moriarty’s Game’, a critically acclaimed immersive cryptic trail. This has seen over 8,000 participants involved, and made approximately £150,000 in ticket sales so far. I was responsible for delivery of creative, scheduling and budgetary success of the trail and in addition I dealt with several external marketing outlets to boost sales. · Production of ‘Mind of the Maker’ trail, launched in Sept. 2016 with an annual revenue target of £160,000. I set-up and managed partner-venue involvement as well as writing key parts of the trail, analysing creative content using initial player feedback and marketing to high profile cultural outlets. · Financial Controller of HiddenCity. In this role I project managed cashflow planning, refreshment of finances for accountancy purposes and presented bi-weekly financial updates at key strategy meetings – particularly interesting given revenue growth within the company of 160% between 2015 to 2016 alone.
Before deciding on a more creative / production based career, I worked for this high profile MP and worked within his office as he progressed from backbench MP to Under-Secretary and now Minister of State at DEFRA. I worked on a wide variety of issues, including: · Provided policy briefing for MP and represented him at key Defra, policy and constituency meetings. Lead point of contact with local authority representatives involved in major constituency developments. · Press management: dealt with daily press enquiries / interviews. Shadow-wrote a weekly newspaper column, managed content and news on MP’s website, Facebook page and monthly e-bulletin. · Worked through complicated casework for individual constituents, delivering critical help in certain cases. Project managed constituency events, eg. A summit on personal debt issues.
