Achieved 1st. Dissertation The title of my 10,000-word final year dissertation was ‘Perverse bodies, strange performances: an examination of the relationship between the embodied female witch and the anti-theatricalist movement in the early modern period.’ I conducted independent research, analysing a combination of stage-plays, alternative performance texts and political discourses Heroic Life in Old English Poetry This module was an opportunity to read Old English poetry in its original form. By the end of the semester, I was able to accurately translate Old English poems into modern verse and understood the conventions and formal tendencies of Old English poets. Modernism I studied both English and American modernist literature, writing on Ezra Pound, Virginia Woolf, F Scott Fitzgerald and Willa Cather. These modules involved using psychological and anthropological theories as part of the framework of analysis. Creative Writing I received a 1st for my 3,000 word short story and accompanying commentary. This module helped me to cultivate my own personal style, whilst also exploring different tones and genres.
