About me
My freelance work has spanned many disciplines, formats and genres. Originally starting out as a documentary film editor, then moving into theatre; specialising in film & video design as part of the scenery & set. After moving to London, I began creating motion graphics for TV title sequences, directing documentaries on art & architecture & more recently directing & editing promos & TVCs for luxury brands. It’s great to be able to take on interesting and challenging projects, working with the client to come up with ideas to help tell the story. I like to get involved in all aspects of the production, from scripting, story-boarding, choosing locations, shot selection through to the final post-production stage until the film is completed - beyond the expectations of the client. All of the projects I have been involved with, have had something that sparks an interest in me. Having an inquisitive mind helps. Asking lots of questions (perhaps too many), doing lots of research, exploring different ideas, looking for influences and inspiration. When I take on a project, I immerse myself in it - taking an interest in every stage & every aspect, from concept through to delivery, & perhaps beyond… Over the next few years, I hope to explore more personal projects; directing arts documentaries on leading artistic talents across a variety of creative fields; painting, sculpture, architecture, music, & photography.

  • Boden Launch Film
Boden Launch FilmThe creative team at Boden needed new content for their website. They wanted something dynamic, interesting, relevant and captivating. They wanted a film to tie in with their photo campaign for their Spring/Summer collection. They asked me to come up with several ideas - I presented them with a variety of possible solutions and they chose one that would immediately work with their current campaign. We planned and filmed the video around a stills shoot they had set-up in London. We shot on R
  • Vodafone #Firsts
Vodafone #FirstsA documentary style short film for the Vodafone #Firsts campaign, shot in Budapest over four days, it follows the journey of skateboarders from all over the city, culminating in a mass gathering late in the evening. The project was a collaborative process involving myself as the main editor with assistance from Firecracker's in-house editor, Alex using Avid's collaborative functionality. Vodafone wanted to create a series of films as part for their #Firsts campaign, showing people fulfilling their dreams & doing things they've always wanted to do, for the first time...

  • Range Rover Sport SVR
Range Rover Sport SVRA TV commercial, Launch film & Teaser for the new Range Rover Sport SVR, shot at Silverstone, February 2014. It was a very cold, wet and windy February when this film was shot in 2014, but luckily, on the third day, when the helicopter had been booked, the weather cleared up. The only problem with that was the continuity, so rain had to be brought in via a tanker lorry to re-create the inclement conditions. The car itself is a beast of a machine, & will no doubt appeal to bored oligarchs & young footballers alike. I decided to create a film that reflected the 'aggressive' nature of the car, using sound design to reinforce the action on screen & the rapid editing. My original stab at creating an edit was met with much delight, but was considered far too 'in-yer-face' for the client & so it was eventually watered down to what you see here. Although not as fast paced as my original, these films are still great to watch & listen to. On the back of the original Launch film, the client asked if we could re-edit the film for a TV commercial.
  • Jaguar F-Type
Jaguar F-TypeJaguar F-Type Italian Job - A film to launch three new versions of the Jaguar F-Type. Shot by Tangerine Films, (in Spain, again), the film uses a combination of tracking vehicle shots, static & a drone mounted camera shooting 4K! The film begins with a shot of all three new incarnations of the F-Type, which then go their separate ways, allowing us to explore each one in turn, before re-uniting for the final, panoramic end shot as they drive off into the distance. My favourite has to be the black, all-wheel-drive coupe version, shown on the cover for the video. I handled most of the post-production, from off-line edit to final re-conform. The grade was done out-of-house, at Framestore, if I remember rightly...
