My name is Gavin Hastings and I am 24 years old and originally from Belfast. I am currently based in Madrid and moved here firstly to carry out a digital marketing course whilst working as an account manager and showroom representative for a communications agency (https://www.instagram.com/theapartmentcomunicacion/?hl=en). This role gave me the chance to develop my client facing skills and thrive in a creative environment. I managed all of the inflows and outflows of the showroom in terms of shipping to stylists and magazines. I am now working as a digital marketing analyst at Telefonica to solidify my technical skills, through this role I am managing their social media and both creating and translating content. My communication skills have been heightened as I am both proficient in Spanish and English. At Telefónica I have been using outlets such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube. I also deal with new business that contact LUCA and redirect them towards the appropriate department. In my current position I work as a Digital Marketing Analyst for LUCA, Telefónica's Data Unit. With the marketing and communication team we ensure that LUCA has a relevant presence in the Big Data market, providing the brand significance with content as well as with the organization of several events. Other roles including: - creating and translating blog content from English to Spanish. -managing the Twitter/Linkendin/Youtube channel alongside my team. -event proposals, including catering/spaces/marketing -creating graphic content to accompany social media posts.
Assistant Account Manager for Fashion and Luxury Departments. This role has given me an insight into an agency environment and has developed my event management, ability to work under pressure and furthered my social media awareness through launching a new social media strategy for our showroom that I manage. Whilst working full time I have successfully carried out a digital marketing course giving me further credability to work in the communications environment, linking fashion brands with exciting new products to constantly push communication expectations.
I interned with Fashion Scout over LFW, I was part of the set up team for the venue at Freemasons Hall, I was then asked to stay and work as a brand representative in the Exhibition Hall of their event. My role was to pass on the creative vision of a designer who could not be present, I was briefed by the designer so that I could interact in a professional and efficient manner with various members of the press and buyers. I am about to work at an event at the Korean Cultural Centre which will be showcasing four designers. I have an extremely positive working relationship with Fashion Scout and hope to bring this to any future roles with other companies.
My role was administrative support in on boarding within the EMEA region. I had to deal with telephone queries in a calm and professional manner. This role enhanced my attention to detail greatly from constantly checking and clarifying information in a mass amount of records
I devised a marketing and social media strategy for a vintage shop in Madrid City Centre I helped plan for the various vintage markets and fairs, collaborating with the Lost and Found Market which is based in Madrid and Barcelona.
As a stylist, I became a brand ambassador, embracing creativity and diversity whilst approaching and selling to a variety of different customers. I took an innovative approach to selling, pushing forward the style of regular customers and encouraging link-selling. I met regular targets to further increase sales. My resilience was shown through out my employment as they rehired me after my study exchange in Madrid showing that I was a valued member of the team.
Distance learning providing me with an insight into the compulsory ideas of marketing both offline and online. I completed this course whilst working at the communications agency giving me both theoretical and practical experience in marketing.
I took part in a four year course including a placement year to study in Madrid. I fluent in Spanish after having lived there for a year and was able to study modules in advertising and marketing theory whilst attending the Madrid Complutense University.
