As the managing director of The Marketing Society, the question I'm always asking is: 'Is it valuable to our members?' Everything else leads from there. I believe in delivering value, I believe in being brave and I pride myself on bringing our members together to do good and give something back. For the last eight years, I've been growing and nurturing The Marketing Society's network, and now, as MD, I'm working hard to transform the Society into the global network of senior marketers. We've already opened The Marketing Society Asia in Hong Kong and exciting expansion plans are afoot. I've always done things in a different way. It all started at beginning of my career, 14 years ago, at The Foreign Office when I saw the way certain things were being done and started asking questions. There's always another way. I believe that if you bring interesting and interested people together, big ideas happen and we do good together. An entrepreneur at heart, I run Cabal, my own private club for extraordinary people who can't sit still, creating memorable experiences that you wouldn't get anywhere else.
As managing director, I run the day-to-day of The Marketing Society. This means I lead the team, lead our international expansion plans and am responsible for the P&L. Everything I do is about delivering value to our members from building rewarding partner programmes to creating new events and networking opportunities. I also pride myself on bringing our members together to do good and give something back. My next exciting challenge at the society is to be leading the global network of senior marketers and we plan to have a hub in major cities by 2017. We recently launched The Marketing Society Asia in Hong Kong and will be opening hubs in Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai, Cairo and America. Watch this space.
At the start of 2013, Gemma founded her business Cabal, a private members club for likeminded, extraordinary people who are curious and interested. Creating memorable experiences and doing good together.
Reporting to our CEO, Hugh, I am the marketing director of The Marketing Society and the guardian of over 2600 members, all senior marketers. I create and deliver strategy to grow and nurture our community and I am responsible for our national programme of events. I also look after our partners, oversee our blog, Linkedin pages and Twitter as publisher and develop training initiatives. Everything we do is about inspiring leadership and challenging our membership to think differently.
