A recent First Class Honors graduate of Textile Design, from Chelsea Collage of Art. My final year collection focused on the impact of fashion on active wear and how this can influence the practicality of the final garment. Using a range of natural and synthetic woven and non-woven fabrics, each hand dyed and printed with various techniques to create a collection expressing my concept. My dissertation study focused on the sexualisation of sports women within the wider media and how it affects their sporting performance. In my time at Speedo I have progressed from Sales Assistant to Assistant Manager taking on responsibilities and providing employees clear guidelines and targeted goals, as part of this role I am product training coordinator which involves seasonal meetings at the head office and Aqualab. This has enhanced my knowledge of compressive materials and bindings used in professional race suits and the chemical reactions of chlorine.
Upon completing several stages of the application process, I was given the chance to show my design identity within the selection process for the Adidas Design Academy creating a body of work in order to fulfill a design brief. I created two colour and material concepts for the French and Australian open.
A project set by the Design Team at Speedo to create a new break-through capsule of swimwear for the Speedo female range ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Japan. I worked closely with the design team on colour and material to create a concept collection inspired by Japanese culture and style.
As a Temporary Manager at Berghaus I was informing clients with product knowledge suitable for the Brecon Beacons and the variety of weather conditions, supplying them with clothing such as waterproof goretex nonwoven shells, down insulated thermal jackets and argentium woven base layers.
During my experience with the Autonomous Collection, a brand who have an ethical approach to fabrication and design, I spent my time dyeing and reworking existing pieces and consulting on colour choices. I gained experience sampling colour and overdyeing a variety of natural and re-used materials as well as creating textured textile samples.
With Bora Aksu I gained first-hand experience behind the scenes at a global fashion event. My position dressing the models and maintaining the clothes gave me an intimate knowledge of high fashion materials.
I worked part time at the Cambridge Satchel Company whilst completing my degree. More importantly I have learnt how critical the customer experience is, presenting a life style choice through colour trend on a staple item. I developed a seasonal and cultural driven knowledge both pre and post sales. I also learnt practical textile skills in the embossing and restoration of leather goods, learning how to manipulate leather. As well as receiving recognition for my sales achievements.
