I am in charge of marketing for the charity. It involves writing the newsletter, contacting companies such as printers, advertising etc. I work from home mostly, as a volunteer.
I was working in this promotion agency in charge of the social media and integrated marketing communications. I worked with the employee database and interviewed potential promoters. I also did some accounting and market research. My boss and mentor shared responsibility and knowledge of small business management. My spoken Spanish progressed significantly during this time.
During this internship I was in contact with international business managers (mainly Chilean), gauging interest, explaining products and services and organising meetings. I was performing market research and creating reports for clients (primarily Northern American). I had to be competent with the Microsoft office package (Excel, Word etc). I developed my understanding of spoken Hispanic-American Spanish as well as my own speaking ability (including one week intensive course prior to the job) I also increased my knowledge of real world international business activity and honed my internet research skills. I reached all the targets for reports and meetings I was set.
I performed my responsibilities as a waiter by taking orders, and waiting on tables professionally. I was mentioned several times on tripadvisor.com for my public relation proficiency with the guests.
Working on the Bar alone in the Italian Restaurant, Preparing and Serving Drinks to Tables. I also cleaned and prepared the bar each shift. This job developed my skills of working alone and quality customer service as well as my understanding of fine dining.
I worked on the bar with a team, doing many different tasks during my time there including; preparing drinks including cocktails; working behind the bar; taking orders wirelessly and serving tables with food and beverages. This experience particularly improved my confidence while speaking Spanish.
Working in a telesales office, I scheduled many quotations which eventually led to sales. I learnt a lot about direct marketing and customer relations in small business, meeting targets and time management, as I was doing 4 A-Level courses at the same time.
