George Cudby is an independent graphic designer based in London, UK. He is currently building his portfolio of clients in a broad range of industries and mediums through services which include Creative & Artistic Direction, Brand & Design Strategy, Identity Development, Editorial Design, Web Design, Photography and Typography. He has a Foundation Diploma from Leeds Arts University (formerly Leeds College of Art) and has recently acquired a BA degree in Graphic Design from Camberwell College of Art (UAL). He has extensive experience in studio environments through a number of internships with Articulate Studio (formerly Broken Twill), Article Magazine, Tunica Magazine and Systems Studio. Assisting Robin Jones with the art direction of the music video for Django Django’s ‘Tic Tac Toe’. • Building props under strict time constraints, mainly on set. • Operating props during filming, always offering a helping hand. • General runner duties.
Involved in a range of large scale projects including brand identity design, website journal updates, web design, web app and phone app design. Attended client meetings and contributed during discussions. • Helped to produce corporate web, email and app design for a large banking/cyber security company which will be rolled out next year. • Contributed to multiple identity design briefs for filmmakers, artists and photographers. • Researching and creating mood boards for upcoming projects, understanding the design criteria and aligning the studio aesthetic.
Responsible for sales at Offprint book fair at Tate Modern. Working closely alongside editor-inchief, Jose Garcia. • Quickly familiarising myself with the product to successfully sell it, utilising my many years experience in retail. • Dealing with customer queries and meeting fellow designers/bookmakers/artists allowing for a great networking experience.
Part time internship during my early years at university. Included first hand involvement in a biannual journal focussing on all things British, from art and design to culture, entertainment and contemporary men’s fashion. • Assisting on photographic shoots, editorials and layouts, working alongside other creatives within the small team to develop and share ideas for the magazine. • Utilising my innate organisational skills to deal with potential new stockists for the publication and also helping to arrange shoot locations etc. • Implementing my design skillset to create web design options, layout design and project maintenance for client projects through Articulate Studio. • Juggled internship studio time, a part-time job and university work allowing me to improve time management.
