Events Company running concerts, festivals and music venues across the UK. I oversaw the marketing for three of their Nottingham venues, including all events programing, brand development, art direction and team management. Starting with one venue, my ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and learn new skills soon saw me responsible for the marketing and profitability of three venues’ events, giving me a strong commercial awareness. I designed and developed several successful clubnight brands, completed a rebrand of one of the venues, and worked on numerous digital/print projects. I demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills that helped with effective marketing communications, fostering lasting relationships with business partners, and managing and motivating a team of staff.
An independent clubnight I ran with friends, showcasing underground electronic music along with experimental, interactive visuals. I became the principle manager last year, coordinating all aspects of the events including artist bookings, planning and production, design and marketing. I designed the majority of print and digital material, and also made the live visuals – generative, sound responsive animations, controlled by live MIDI in real time.
A summer internship focusing on a rebrand of a major high street clothing chain, and a redesign of a large cigarette company’s identity and packaging. The placement was one of my first tastes of design thinking, after a previously fine art focus, and taught me a great deal about creativity for purpose.
