I'm currently in my final year of study at the University of Exeter reading Human Geography after having returned from a year abroad at the University of Helsinki in Finland focusing on Arts and Cultural Studies whilst also studying International Relations, Gender Studies and Finnish. I am highly interested in jobs within Marketing and Advertising, having worked in marketing roles for various nightlife events companies and charitable organisations during my time at university. I have also maintained an interest in Fine Art, Fashion and Filmmaking via social media platforms such as Tumblr and Instagram, regularly visiting galleries, sketching and making my own short films. I believe that I am a motivated and hardworking, creative and engaging individual that can work well both by myself and in a group. I am currently interested in a job within the creative industry after I graduate from university in June 2019 preferably in London as I live a commutable distance away. I am also open to working abroad as I feel at ease in an unfamiliar environment after my year abroad in Helsinki.Locked Pro Plan feature
I was chosen via a selection process to be a brand ambassador for the student recruitment app Headstart that launched in 2016. We approached fellow students on various days to inform them about the various companies (including L'Oreal and Vodafone) that choose to recruit via the app due to its fair and unbiased methods.
I had the unique opportunity to be to able to shadow various employees within the Truslink firm that handles construction and architectural projects for a multitude of American, and European companies within their central offices based in Shanghai, China. I gained invaluable insight into a Chinese based work environment and hope to work within China in the future.
As a steward at the Wimbledon Championships for two years running I have been placed in a number of high risk environments across the site in order to ensure that crowds are managed and difficult or dangerous situations are neutralised and dealt with in a calm manner. I am honoured to have been a part of such an iconic British cultural event. I received crowd management training and learnt how best to deal with the possibility of a terrorist threat. I believe I can now manage fast paced and high stress environments. I have also learnt the importance of remaining friendly and kind when dealing with the general public on a daily basis.
I was part of the volunteer team for Virgo Festival located at Great Fulford Manor, Devon. I was able to gain further insight into the behind-the-scenes process of bringing together a small scale festival.
I have been a Brand Ambassador for the events company Hold It Down during both my first and second year at Exeter University, which I have picked up now that I've returned after my year abroad. This role involves maintaining an engaging social media presence, for instance sharing events, inviting friends and organising the sale of tickets. I really enjoy being involved in the nightlife and music scene at University, particularly when finding more creative and individual ways to brand events. Hold It Down organises the largest festival 'Hijacked' at the University and this year I was chosen to be part of a select team to market the festival and sell tickets. I was also awarded for selling the highest number of tickets to the festival that year.
I was part of a Marketing Team for the charity Raise and Give, the largest society at Exeter University. We were part of a record breaking, award winning committee raising roughly £135,000 for the national charity Cancer Research and local charity Balloons. It felt so rewarding to use marketing skills and social media presence to raise awareness and funds for such incredible causes. Charitable marketing and branding is an area that I am interested to seek further experience in. I am planning on climbing Kilimanjaro in 2019 with RAG Challenges after raising the sufficient funds myself as I believe it is important to push myself out of my comfort zone
