Freelance Music Producer/Composer for Moving ImageLeeds, United Kingdom
About me
As a recent Music Production graduate from Leeds College of Music, I have gained a range of transferable skills which have prepared me for a career in the music and creative media industries. I have developed my skills in recording and producing, as well as my hardware and software skills whilst working in dedicated studio environments with experienced professionals. I am able to work with various software including Ableton, Logic X, Pro Tools and Max/MSP. I also have an Apple Pro Certification for Logic Pro X. I am a freelance music producer, composer, musician and vocalist under the alias Jorgie, bringing out my first electronic music album in June 2017. I have drawn influences from successful artists such as Björk, Massive Attack, Gorillaz, Kiasmos, Jon Hopkins, Bonobo and Max Richter. Professional DJ'ing in various venues across Leeds including The Old Red Bus Station, Royal Armories, Leeds College of Music, and The Leeds Club. I have DJ'd for companies including SkyBet and most recently took part in the Sounds Like THIS Festival, performing at the Gala Concert which showcased the 'next generation of super talented musicians from Leeds College of Music'. I also compose music for moving image and am currently working with various film and animation students. I love to work on collaborative projects, and have experience writing music for art spaces with focus on sound design, soundscapes and new ways of accessing music. As a classically trained musician, I believe that I have a good knowledge on aesthetics & narrative function in film music, having explored a wide range of different tv dramas, films and documentaries; applying what I have learnt to my own compositions. My film music module has focused on composition, orchestration, musical awareness and production. The various modules as part of my degree have allowed me to develop practical and theoretical understanding of production practices, group study, contextual studies and professional studies. Professional studies modules have covered topics such as self-promotion, marketing, legal and commercial issues, and digital and media literacy, all of which are hugely important in the ever-changing industry. Many projects throughout my time at LCoM have involved teamwork and collaborating with students in all creative areas. Event Management, Production Assistance, Stage Management, Advancing & Operations, Online Marketing, Artist Liaison, are all extra areas in which my skills lie. I am currently part of the Leeds Student Radio weekend team. I run and co-present a weekly radio show on Leeds Student Radio called 'Forgotten Wax', which is broadcast every Sunday between 3pm and 4pm. It is one of the largest student radio stations in the country and by being part of it, I have gained a first hand understanding of how radio stations work; from on-air presentation to production as well as being part of a dynamic network of students involved in broadcasting.
