I'm a trained designer with highly tuned visual literacy and I can select a winning image/design that stands out from the very busy crowd. As a mentor I am able to pick out the strongest work in an artist's/designer's portfolio and help them develop their work towards commercial success.
I have spent the past decade working as a curator and dealer of graphic art and design representing and selling Artists and Designer/Makers work at International shows and fairs.
I originally trained as a printed textile designer, I'm a skilled curator of images and moods and am highly tuned in to colour, form and aesthetics. I have a strong ability to be able to select the best out of a huge array of choices and curate strong, beautiful collections of work both to sell and when working with mentees who are seeking help with their work and portfolio production.
Prior to running the gallery, I worked for a decade in the award winning design department of the Guardian under the Art Director Mark Porter, who trained me up in the art of working with type and image. I was also a key person in commissioning illustration across the paper and had the pleasure of working with some incredible talent.
I am a regular visitor to leading Art and Design colleges delivering professional practice sessions to BA and MA courses - I have mentored students and graduates to help them develop a cohesive portfolio of work - sifting through their work and finding the gems that they have hidden in the bottom of the pile !
