About me
Hello! I’m Glen Swart, a one-man studio based in South London and originally from sunny South Africa. I am a graphic designer and illustrator; working across traditional print and digital projects. I trade under the name F, is for fox. Which was inspired by the nimble, resourceful and often surprising urban inhabitants. Like me, they’re quick to adapt, creative problem solvers and not afraid to punch above their weight every now and then.
Projects
  • Cadburys Marvellous Creations advertising
Cadburys Marvellous Creations advertisingDuring my time with JCDecaux I worked within the Innovate team. Creating striking outdoor solutions for advertising campaigns. One of which was for Cadbury Milk Chocolate's Marvellous Creations launch.   The concept was a simple one, make the billboard look good enough to eat. Inspired by Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. It started with a simple sketch and basic mockup to get the agency's approval. Later that week we had started production, I visited the team in Stockport as they crafted it unde
  • Die Zeitschrift Der Strasse
Die Zeitschrift Der StrasseAn editorial & branding project for Die Zeitschrift Der Strasse, a university run publication in Bremen, Germany. The magazine acts as a street journal of the suburbs; featuring history, information on the culture and trending topics. This is sold on the streets by the homeless. The magazine is described as a hand up and not a hand out by Prof. Michael Vogel. I worked on layout concepts for their magazine refresh, later moving on to designing the magazines new logo which was well received and I was commissioned to create another logo for the university department. When I started researching, I was reminded of the musicians of Bremen —folklore surrounding the town. The four animals are used heavily in local branding, advertising and tourism. As the story is about overcoming great obstacles and working together to achieve this. I felt it was perfect to use, but could only be unique if it was approached less literally. During research stages I also learned that the sellers saw themselves, the face of the streets, in the branding as well. I loved that it was open to interpretation and people resonated with it on different levels.
  • Big Day Celebrations
Big Day CelebrationsA self-initiated project for my wedding. A labour of love between full-time work & freelancing commitments to bring the characters to life. To tell the story of us in an approachable and memorable way, I turned our nearest and dearest into animals, based on physical characteristics and their personalities. Starting with pen sketches, moving to vector artwork, storyboards and an animated clip for our website. Other bits and pieces included die-cut invitations, emailer updates and thank you cards.
