  • Silo 468
Silo 468The project is a conversion of oil silo into light art piece and a public space designed by Madrid based Lighting Design Collective (LDC). It sits by the sea facing central Helsinki, Finland. Prevailing winds well known to residents are strongly present. The natural light, wind and the movement of light on the water formed the principles for the lighting concept. Walls are perforated with 2012 holes referring to the Helsinki World Design Capital 2012 year. The lighting signifies the start of a m

  • Quarry
QuarryQuarry is a show created, directed and performed by Natasha Tsakos (» natashatsakos.com) with the collaboration of Tecné Collective in charge of the technical and creative aspects of the video mapping and stage design. The show was created for Holcim’s brand launch in Mexico City (May 22nd and 23rd, 2013) and it revolves around the concept of how concrete is made, from the natural forces to the industrialization process involved. It was adapted to 20×8 m and 6×3 m formats in order to fit two different venues. Quarry was developed in four weeks work and counted with a network of collaborators between Mexico City, Madrid and Miami, including Tecné Collective motion graphic designers Tania Nuñez and Oscar Lopez who worked on the animation.
  • Same World, Different Perspectives
Same World, Different PerspectivesAt the beginning of 2014, we were approached by Product/81 creative lab (» product81.com), a Wynwood’s culture design agency, to create an artistic installation about autism for an Autism Awareness event in Miami, in collaboration with South Florida Ford (» sffstyle.com) and Autism Speaks (» autismspeaks.org). We partnered with Klang! (» klang.es) to create an audiovisual experience, inspired in the perceptual differences between neurotypical and neuroatypical people, highlighting not only the disadvantages and problems, but also the potential capabilities of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders and the bridge that technology is making between our perceived worlds. On April 11, 2014, we performed “Same World, Different Perspectives” on the 7th floor of the stunning 1111 Lincoln Road, were folks from all over South Florida came together to help raise Autism awareness. The installation consisted of 3 hybrid C-MAX cars that were projection-mapped on the windshields. The center car showed the world as seen from a neurotypical person’s eyes and the cars at the sides explored the perception of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder where things like focus, light, color and sound are challenged and can induce sensory overload that can shut down and isolate them. Three discrete sound channels behind each car were used to highlight the perceptual differences in ASD. The visual installation also included images of children’s art graciously provided by HighPoint Academy as well as eye-opening facts and relevant data infographics. • SP Reflections
SP ReflectionsIn September 2013 Tecné Collective developed the light art piece SP Reflections, to be show on the digital facade of the FIESP / SESI-SP headquarters, one of the most iconic buildings in Avenida Paulista and located at the heart of São Paulo. From the 1950’s, São Paulo City demonstrated an intense urban grew, nowadays the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the world, and the effect of uncontrolled urbanization reflects in the city’s increasingly extreme weather. With this in mind, “VivaCidade Poéticas Socioambientais” (Socio Poetics) exhibition, curated by Marília Pasculli from Verve Cultural, presented an innovative proposal: to translate into digital language the pulse of life in the metropolis. In this context, national and international artists expressed in six digital works created exclusively for the platform, a critical engagement with regard to the excessive use of natural resources. SP Reflections translated the climate change caused by the city’s inhabitants over the decades by creating organic movements of light and brightness in white, orange and red tones, combining real and updated data such as wind speed, temperature and air quality to create harmonious patterns. “One data visualisation spectacle in orange tones conducted by organic rhythm” said Marília Pasculli, curator of the exhibition. The light art piece was created by Tecné Collective using custom code built with Lighting Design Collective to control permanent light installations, including the Silo 468 in Helsinki and other upcoming light art pieces. Furthermore, Gorka Cortázar, cofounder of Tecné Collective, taught the workshop “From High Definition to Light Art”, a 3 day theoretical and practical workshop which studied the differences between working with projections and high definition environments and light art and low resolution media facades.
