About me
I am an experienced Designer with a textiles design degree from the prestigious University of Leeds. Having worked for over a year at an independent interior design company, I am looking to advance my professional portfolio. I am currently working at a local, independent interior design company as a junior designer. There are three designers, including myself and an in-house seamstress. I have been involved in several major projects including both residential and commercial establishments. Using what I have learnt within my design degree has allowed me to flourish within the business and take on more responsibility with every project we do. I graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in Textiles Design. I specialised within knitting which has led me to gain a lot of experience on the dubied and domestic knitting machines. I gained basic skills programming the Shima Seiki 12g whole garment and the 5g machine. Both use the SDS-ONE APEX3, which has allowed me to create both samples of knit and also whole garments. The course allowed me to excel in using Adobe software when creating critical journals for my practical work. The diversity of the course also allowed me to study other subjects separate to design such as business management, photography, history of art and sustainability. This have given me the skills to write in an academic way and to manage my time effectively between different projects.
Projects
  • Interior Design
Interior DesignOver the last two years I have worked within a small, independent interior design company on both residential and commercial properties. Below are a select few of the many projects we have worked on as a team. I have been able to use and expand my knowledge within this role and this has enabled me to gain crucial experience and flourish within this company. • The Shima Studies
The Shima StudiesAs I started to work with new technologies within textiles, I found that the Shima stood out as a revolutionary form of knitting. This project highlights some of the finished pieces I did on the Shima over the course of a few months. It took time and patience to truly understand the highly technical methods used when operating the specialised machine, but the results are outstanding as evidenced below.
  • Exploring Form and Texture
Exploring Form and TextureThis project investigates the structural characteristics of fruit through different mediums, resulting in a series of knits designed for both fashion and interiors.
