  • Dear Jamie Team of Magic, I would like to apply for the role of Senior Brand Partnerships Manager, as I feel that my experience and career aspirations are in line with job outline you provided. First, and foremost, I’m a massive Jamie Oliver fan. I have consumed a large amount of the content he has created over the years, from his small apartment to the grand outdoors, his campaign in schools and homes, and more recently his ‘ugly veg’ activation, which I see is now getting some traction with key UK retailers. Jamie is a food hero in our home and I greatly admire what he has achieved. I believe he is a true to the environment, authentic and his passion is contagious. Secondarily, but just as important: I’m a guy that loves coming up with fresh ideas around brand partnerships and associated business models. I’m an outgoing, creative sales person who relishes pitching ideas, driving change and innovating to meet targets. I have extensive business development experience across media owner (Google/Youtube), performance and creative agency (Clicks2Customers and Wonderland Collective) and client-side with a global private equity fund (GGH). The branding and digital agency I co-founded led me to deal with branded and visual content across various different clients, from wine farms to restaurants and even a bacon subscription service - that was where I felt most effective and happiest professionally and I look forward to furthering that in this role. Working with these brands often led to creating brand experiences after our initial projects were delivered. I would love to bring those ideas to the table in this role. My business development skills enabled me to be a key contributor to the set-up of Tier 1 advertising accounts in Google UK (£120m spend/year); and of the Google South Africa office, delivering and maintaining commercial relationships and partnerships to the value of over $50m across Tier 1 accounts in multiple industries from finance to technology and eCommerce to automotive. I then became Head of Business Development and Partnerships at Clicks2Customers (a globally recognised digital agency) - helping them to land global accounts like Standard Chartered Bank as well as partner with numerous WPP and Publicis agencies. My management skills are evidenced by my co-founding and effective management of the creative and technical staff of seven at Wonderland Collective, leading them to deliver a consistently high quality product to challenging deadlines including branding, websites, packaging, apps and augmented reality in an agile environment. I landed and managed clients in the UK, Australia, Pakistan, Rwanda, Nigeria, The US and Canada. Most recently I have been working with a private equity firm that buys global companies and turns them around with a hands-on operational approach. My role, as Head of Marketing and Partnerships, has been to introduce marketing best practice into each company through the introduction of best-of-breed agencies, the hiring of competent, seasoned marketing practitioners and the setting up of marketing & retail partnerships which are expected to produce > $50m revenue in 2016. I feel that I am a strong candidate to take on this role because of the diverse experience I have. I consider myself to be agile and adapt to the brands I work on, and I think that could bring value to the Jamie Oliver brand group. I like to roll up my sleeves and get dirty, and I’m happy to help and explore ideas around areas that ‘don’t fall within my role’ but where I can assist my team. I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity and would love to explore this further with you. Thanks for your time and I look forward to your response.
