I am seeking a permanent position in a growth oriented music events business or venue. I have a keen interest in the business, strong people skills and a deep understanding of the marketing, operations and customer service disciplines involved. Over the last years, I have focused on developing necessary relevant skills and experience via a combination of event internships, short term engagements at festivals and my own night club event start-up.
Pack London is a music marketing and promotions company. My role will soon expand to include blog for Horizon Festival but currently my responsibilities include: • Copy-writing - Writing of public-facing copy for press releases, social media posts, mailers and information on the Horizon festival website, as well as sub editing copy sent in from external copy-writers • Event Coordination - Assisting with the running of events on the night such as the Horizon Festival Reunion Party where I manned the guest list and invite requests from ViPs and artists • Overseeing of Graphic design – Taking part in group discussion about the visual branding of Pack London and its sister company Boss Level’s various public-facing brands • Social media marketing - Managing and reporting on the traction of social media posts on various channels including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using tools such as Tweetdeck, Instagress and Grum • Administration – Taking minutes during meetings, building and maintaining databases of over 10,000 subscribers to Pact’s monthly email using Mailchimp and Google Sheets, researching merchandise suppliers for the release of Footsie’s Zoot Break III and collating my findings into spreadsheets
Stage Miracles is the UK’s leading event crewing company. My role involves: • Crewing- Assisting with the set-up and takedown of backline, lighting, staging, video and PA. I have been hired to work on complicated, and high profile events including the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball, Justin Beiber @ the O2 and many others
Two week’s work on-site in ski resort Les Deux Alpes, assisting the Accommodation Manager with the allocation of rooms during a Snowsports / Music Festival. Duties included: • Stakeholder Management – Liaising with accommodation suppliers to resolve queries relating damage liability, guest arrival times and the specific services available from each supplier • Administration – Working with the accommodation and operations managers to plan the distribution and collection of over four thousand sets of keys from five different suppliers, collecting and collating information relating to damages, lost keys and complaints • Customer Service – Liaising with guests who had experienced problems with their accommodation and resolving issues where possible
NVS are the event company behind Outlook, Dimensions and Sunfall festivals. I worked for them in Croatia as Assistant Campsite Manager on the first of these two events as part of the Management Support team. Responsibilities included: • Volunteer management - Overseeing campsite patrols, waste control and the upkeep of campsite infrastructure by volunteers • Customer service - Providing festival information for festival customers at the campsite office, responding to reports from patrolling volunteers relating to customers who were at a risk to themselves or others • Developing a rapport with private security and Croatian Police to help ensure that customers were in the safest hands possible • Performing regular checks for security and health & safety issues
EOTS are an event production company, contracted for Boomtown 2016 where I volunteered as an Artist Liaison and Stage Management assistant. I put Stage Manager above, as there was no option for assistant. The role involved: • Stage Management - Assisting with the setup of backline, checking all was correct according to technical riders • Artist Liaison - Meeting and greeting artists, discussing any questions or concerns they had and helping prepare them for sets, compiling and distributing hospitality riders • Working to solve any last minute complications, such as on the final day when our compere failed to arrive, and I filled in for him, addressing a very large festival crowd to introduce acts and give safety announcements
Working as Head Steward at Cambridge Folk Festival. Tasks included: • Liaising with my department head to plan the distribution of signage and pathways • Stewarding, and leading groups of stewards to answer questions from customers and direct flows of traffic and pedestrians
Big Green Week is a Bristol-based community interest company, where I worked to deliver their annual environmental festival My role included: • Copy Writing – Of office documents such as an Event Management Plan, and of public-facing copy on our online and print programmes • Research – About local organisations who might partner with the festival or submit events to feature in our programme. Some of my personal suggestions, such as a workshop about green sanitary products, were among the best received of the festival • Communication – With local organisations to pitch the festival to them, try to get them to submit events or to tailor their applications to be more in keeping with the ethos of the festival; With venues to negotiate rates and pair them with event organizers • Administration – Building and maintaining databases of over a hundred events, venues and volunteers; checking all copy on our WordPress site was consistent, appropriate and correct, and making any amendments necessary; overseeing the visual design process of our print programme; ordering festival merchandise • Press – Organising a community radio feature about the festival • Event Coordination – Ensuring that all events were running smoothly, overseeing the movement of branding and signage between venues, responding to queries from venues and event organizers • Customer Service – Manning the information point during the festival • Volunteer Management – Sourcing and managing volunteers during the event • Stakeholder management – Writing and submitting Risk Assessments and other documents required for the council to grant permission for the festival to go ahead; Building a post-event public perception survey, the results of which were presented to our corporate sponsors Marks & Spencer and Tesla Motors
Co-founded my own events company putting on club nights in Bristol under two brands; Real Talk and City Breakz. These were both platforms for underrepresented local artists to perform alongside established names, and be paid a fair price for their work. Many of these artists have since gone on to achieve bigger and better things, such as Bazza who has had tracks played on Rinse FM and TenTwenty Radio. Real Talk was the first regular grime night in Bristol, and since its launch, many others have been launched by competitors. The project was put on hiatus when I graduated, but I have hopes to continue work of this sort in the future. Tasks included: • Programming – Booking of artists in keeping with our brands and our target market • Liaising with venues- Negotiating the best possible rates, using tact and diplomacy to persuade venues to open their doors to a much misunderstood genre, which at the time was unfairly associated with violence and crime • Marketing - Overseeing of graphic design, writing copy for regular social media posts, overseeing the distribution of flyers to over a hundred shops, bars and restaurants as well as hand-to-hand outside music events • Volunteer Management – At front of house and the cloakroom • Budgeting • Sales • Artist Liaison • Stage Management • Event Coordination
Voluntary mentoring role at a community radio station where I helped young people produce radio content about cultural events in Bristol, as well as producing some of my own content such as an interview from the curators of Death: a Human Experience at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery
A role within the production team of Cambridge Literary Festival • Communications - Overseeing communications between different venues, roaming staff and the box office through Slack on the central communications computer, liaising between Event Coordinators and Technical Production staff to check that tasks were being actioned • Artist Liaison - Meeting and greeting speakers and resolving any queries or concerns • VIP Liaison – Meeting and greeting representatives from the festivals sponsor, New Statesman • Checking for technical difficulties • Managing stewards
A PA role to a solicitor within the probate operations department. Main responsibilities were: • Administration - Drafting legal documents, processing invoices, compiling financial information, logging progress of different cases, maintaining company archives • Communication - Liaising with third parties to value the estate of the deceased via telephone and letters, liaising with our department head and keeping her up-to-date on the progress of my solicitor's cases • Customer service – Keeping clients up-to-date with how their case was progressing, as well as giving them comfort and assurance during a difficult period of their lives
Internship at a marketing company. Tasks included: • Research - Managing an online research platform that was used to collect qualitative shopper information from panellists across Europe, as well as collating this information. Researching various competitors’ advertising campaigns. • Setting up rooms for meetings • Ad-hoc administrative tasks • Taking part in creative meetings, discussing ideas for a pitch
