Although Lloyds Banking group is not my working field of choice, I have found it to be a great learning opportunity. Dealing with short time frames, big targets to hit and a face passed work force, i have realised how I can work briefs under a large amount of pressure within a short time frame.
Engaging a brief set by WGSN to create a series of samples suitable for an office environment with the theme 'Relaxed Office'. From this I created a selection of hand printed and digitally created fabrics that were worked back into. All designs were influenced by WGSN's Industrial trend combined with relaxing undertones taken from Japanese culture mainly Zen gardens that serve as an aid to meditation, an indication to creating a 'relaxing environment through design.
My position within the business lead me to carry out duties such as collating product information that would decide which material suppliers & product specifications would go into a design, whilst maintaining our ethos of being sustainable as possible. Similar to this I would research and collect market information within our sector to ensure our collections remained within current trends. I would then re-work designs, also photographing and logging the samples, co-ordinate the delivery of samples/ products to photo shoots and buyers, chasing samples and liaising with suppliers.
Assisting Interior designer Noel Holmes in the production of hand printed textiles for interior fabrics and papers. Duties included creating designs and illustrations, creating mood boards and tear sheets to showcase ideas, re-colour existing designs, developing designs, Reworking layouts and putting designs into repeat, prep-ping designs ready for print & production (both hand and digital). I would also style the pieces into product visualisations and actual products, along with window displays and photo shoots. I would plan client meetings and advertising opportunities.
