About me
A multidisciplinary creative researcher based in London. My work exists at the intersection of Art, Design, Biology and Future Social Scenarios. Having recently graduated with an MA in Material Futures from Central Saint Martins, my current work is deeply rooted in narratives of the human condition. The passion i have for social justice, the exploration of the human body and the endless fascination that we as a species have with our own mortality is what fuels my practice. My projects explore themes not only of life and death, but also of the enormous impact we do and will continue to have on our environment in both the near and far future. Speculating somewhat extreme scenarios, not as a solution to future crises, but rather to spark conversation and shed light on the magnitude of those looming potential societal issues. My aim is to reposition the human back into the cycle from which we consume at an ever increasingly unsustainable rate and highlight the role we could play in ensuring a brighter and fairer future for humankind. With a background in Fine Art and a BA in Textile Design from Chelsea College of Art, my practical skill set is broad and varied. Drawing on this with my approach to making and visualising of research and concepts, my knowledge of materiality and aesthetics are bold and this base allows me to fully explore intriguing and sometimes disturbing subject matter.
Projects
  • Nano Toxic
Nano ToxicNanotoxicology is a new area of scientific study that deals with building an understanding of the nature of nano particles and the affect they could have on us and our lives due to prolonged consumption and exposure. To ensure that we are developing technologies safely and progression can remain a positive thing. It is however in its infancy and currently not in receipt of the necessary funding to enable it to be an efficient  system for hazard testing of said particles. There is no legislation
  • Second Skin
Second SkinExhibited at Yi Haus - Shanghai Village, Shanghai (2016 - current) Pollution and climate change is a global issue with an ever increasing threat to human life. The damage we are doing ourselves and the environment is irreparable and yet there are still not enough safeguards and regulations in place to protect people in all corners of society.  This collaboration speculates a dystopic near future scenario in which technologies such as 3D printing with human cells, that are already becoming ever more accessible and currently being used in the beauty industry for growing skin for product testing, could be the next beauty product for mass consumption.  In a world of premature ageing and various life threatening health concerns such as skin cancer, related to both pollution and climate change, this project questions the lengths people might go to, in order to protect and preserve ones natural beauty. And what the industry might look like behind this.  Are you ready for your second skin?
  • Humankind
HumankindExhibited at: Milan Design Week 2017 - Ventura Lambrate, Salone di Mobile, Milan           Exhibited at: Central Saint Martins - Degree Show 2017, London This project looks at the potential for harvesting the water content of the human body as a valued natural resource in the face of future scarcity.
