I am a highly organised enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills. I have just graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in English Literature and am looking to further my experience within the arts sector. During my University holidays I have acquired a range of work experience. My time at Stormfront, Apple's premium reseller, allowed me to perfect my customer service and selling ability, eventually leading me to become top saleswoman of the month over the Christmas period. My degree in English Literature has not only provided me with excellent proofreading skills but also the ability analyse and argue swiftly and fluently. The dissertation I completed in my final year enhanced my ability to collect information and to build and apply my knowledge to tackle problems. I thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy keeping up to date on the latest fashions and trends. In addition to this, I enjoy playing golf and tennis in my free time and have travelled extensively, with recent trips including South America and Thailand.
Promoting brand awareness for a new start up company.
• Researching potential stockists to create background profiles before contacting them, in order to encourage a stronger sale. • I was constantly promoting the brand at various events, giving out free samples whilst recruiting more permanent buyers.
• I was responsible for managing the shop floor and ensuring all customers were greeted with excellent customer service from all staff. • Over the Christmas period I was top saleswoman, selling more products than any other staff member. • Dealing with complaints and repairing broken Apple products, negotiating a clear line communication between the store and the technicians.
• Assisted the staff members with tasks in the office. • Participated in meetings held with both members of the company and customers. • Helped to brainstorm ideas with the staff.
• Dissertation: This year-long project involved extensive research into the life and literature of Regency England’s Jane Austen. Through detailed analysis of her first three published novels I wrote a 10,000-word essay on her depiction of the male psyche and the effects of the patriarchy. • I focused my modules on the Victorian era; understanding how Victorian society is reflected within the literature and how decadence and modernism was a result of Victorianism.
