Time It's Not A Crime Campaign - Women's Equality PartyThe Women's Equality Party organised an innovative campaign for free, safe and legal abortions in the UK. In response to the fact that women are still required to seek permission from two doctors for an abortion, we built an online permission slip that people could sign in order to give the Home Secretary permission to decriminalise abortion. In the first week, more than four thousand people signed the permission slip and 186,000 people connected with our campaign on Twitter. We then delivered 406,108 permission slips to the Home Secretary's office - representing the number of times women in the UK have had to seek consent for an abortion in the past year alone.
