Main Responsibilities: Planning and implementing PR campaigns for front list titles, securing coverage across national and local newspapers, magazine, broadcast and digital press. Negotiating first serial and exclusive contracts with national press, managing embargoes. Organising and executing all book launches, whilst simultaneously running the press office; writing press releases, dealing with enquiries, sending out assets to journalists and coordinating work experience activity. Pitching to acquire new authors, and presenting campaign results to authors/agents. Maintaining and building relationships with key journalists. Key Achievements: • Regularly sell serial rights to the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday and The Times, resulting in the highest book sales compared to placing extracts in other newspapers. • Placed renowned Royal Marsden dietician on BBC World News (TV), BBC World Service (radio) and BBC R4 Woman’s Hour. • Organised and coordinated a packed press week for singer and chef Kelis including Saturday Kitchen, BBC Breakfast, BBC R1 (interview and online content) back to back phone interviews Inc. The Sunday Times and the signing of 500 books (no mean feat when she was 8 months pregnant with a 7 year old in tow). • Built up my contact list from scratch whilst running the press office independently due to colleague’s maternity leave (and simultaneously coordinating an office move).
Main Responsibilities: Separated into four clear functions: Office manager, Sales Assistant, PR Assistant and PA to the MD with responsibilities ranging from office administration, coordinating sales material for Sales Director, producing sales rep commission reports, processing book orders, publicity clippings management and arranging travel, visas, accommodation, running reception desk. Key Achievements: • Being offered the role of PR manager after only 3 months in the role. • Learning a varied skill set, very quickly and on the job. • Coordinating, planning and implementing an entire office move from Goodge St to Victoria, including coordinating contractors, being the main point-of-contact for all parties involved, whilst still fulfilling my duties as Sales and PR Assistant, and later PR Manager (the move fell through once and I took the responsibilities with me into my new role).
