After graduating from Northumbria University in 2001 with a degree in Marketing, I went on to spend over 12 years in corporate marketing roles within the automotive sector - in the UK and in Australia. Sandwiched somewhere in the middle was a spell running my own property development company as well as a few other personal business projects on the side. A spell working at The Loop with Dots founder, Pip Jamieson, in 2013 gave me a taste of life in the startup world that I haven't looked back from. Now working with Pip and The Dots team in London and loving every moment of helping to shape and craft an amazing platform that has such an impact on so many people's lives in the creative space.
In this role, I led a team of 3 and was responsible for the strategy and execution of the company’s retention activity with a primary focus on the Sydney area. Sydney’s retention strategy quickly became the benchmark for BMW Group’s retail network, consistently outperforming the national network in overall volume and conversion ratios. Our model was held up as best practice across a number of other BMW Group regions globally.
What started as a spare-time interest in the UK property market led to me setting up a small business with its core operation being the development and leasing of residential properties.
In this position, I managed a team of up to 6 direct reports in an integrated marketing role with responsibilities across the full marketing function and an annual budgeted spend around £1.5 million. During my seven years with the group, I established a modern approach to marketing within a large, traditionally structured organisation and encouraged results-driven, marketing-led activity across the company.
