My ambition is to build a career that enables me to combine both the creative and commercial sides of my personality. As I side project, over the last year I have been preparing to launch my own company; a soft-tailored suit silk brand for women. I have demonstrated through a variety of activities a very practical nature, an ability to make things happen, combined with strong artistic flair and entrepreneurialism.
H. Holderness is a London based soft-tailored silk suit brand creating beautiful women's wear pieces featuring 'geo-tessellated' prints. Getting ready to launch!
My role is to manage a team of people to successfully and smoothly run a bar. Specifically my role focuses on the organisation of events held in the bar, and the promotion of our events and activities on social media.
I enrolled on this Summer School course to give me the tools I needed to launch my own brand. This gave me vital knowledge in branding, supply chains, different global markets, reaching the target audience and project planning.
I've spent the last 3 years studying the world around me; ranging from geographies of economies, memories and patterns of consumption. I'm now focus on my dissertation, 'Follow the Ring”, which is an in-depth exploration into the cultural relevance of the engagement ring, and the power it holds as a vessel for memory. I have tailored my degree to align it as closely as possible with the my experiences and work in my Foundation year at CSM, with the ambition to combine these two aspects of my further education in my career.
This course was highly practical, both designing and making products in the different categories, and enabled me to strengthen my ability to find creative solutions to problems, as well as giving me a range of practical skills ranging from design to welding.
