The Lakehead University music program is designed to offer students a fine balance between academic and performance courses -- exploring the various dimensions of music through courses taught by teachers of national and international stature as well as receiving mentorship opportunities from seasoned musicians and professionals in the field. Whilst studying music (voice -- mezzo soprano) I performed numerous solo recitals including alto parts from Vivaldi Gloria with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra (TBSO) under the direction of Stephane Laforest, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. I also had the pleasure of working with Jan Simons (McGill University, Montreal, Quebec) and singing on the film score 'Timebomb' directed by Mort Ransen, a Canadian film director best known for his Genie Award-winning 1995 film Margaret’s Museum. I also worked and performed with David Rhymer, an award winning Canadian writer and musical theatre composer.
