About me
I don't know how not to draw. I draw everyday, and am passionate about what I do. I work free-lance as an illustrator, graphic artist and art teacher. I love to share my artistic enthusiasm and am driven with an insatiable desire to create. I have worked and trained in the arts all my life with my drawing career steadily expanding over the last 10 years. I have developed a loyal following for my style. I enjoy regular highlights and progressive in -betweens. I am happiest in my studio with pencil or pen in hand, blank watercolour paper on my bench and a new drawing about to commence. I seek out good design, delight in typography and generally work my art appreciation, and a desire to have fun, into everything I do. Founder member of the off-the-wall street art group Polite Graffito in 2011, my drawing practise has been diverse and opportunistic. I have been Artist in Residence at Prema Arts Centre, Gloucestershire, for many years; have worked closely with the Campaign for Drawing, as an Associate and as winner of The Big Draw three years on the trot; I teach drawing privately and in the community; and co-own the thriving Prema Arts Cafe, Uley, Gloucestershire: all of which I use as a daily litmus test for my art work and design. My Public artwork can be seen in Children's hospitals, Children's Centres, schools and offices. My ongoing aim is to expand my illustration career, to make a better living and continue having fun.

  • Installation @ Tewkesbury Leisure Centre
Installation @ Tewkesbury Leisure CentreA public art commission deluxe just completed to mark the opening of a state of the art brand new leisure centre in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. A steep but exciting learning curve of solo determination and grit, to see my concept and design slowly turn to reality in this upbeat and accessible installation. The 7.5m sculpture is made of stainless steel - powder coated and screen printed, and built to last! A series of community engagement drawing workshops fuelled my abstract design to depict v

  • Drawing @ Somac
Drawing @ SomacDrawing in the streets of Gloucester as part of their creative arts festival - Somac. Decided to improvise this one : good start, anxious middle, good end. Drawing direct in pen leaves no room for error. Scary!
  • Day of the Dead Exhibition
Day of the Dead ExhibitionA fresh collaborative exhibition of graphic illustrations, lyrics and live music. Drawing from the heart, singing from the soul, writing the world, Day Of The Dead is a box-fresh creation from renowned artist and illustrator Imogen Harvey-Lewis, and poet singer-song writer Alun Hughes, lyricist with the band Lensmen. A new dynamic duo on the arts scene, these two share a consuming passion for their creative process, finding a common ground in life and death. Imogen’s graphic art is a true and honest blend of line and emotion; capturing a moment and redefining it with simplicity and creative integrity. Lensmen are an extraordinary Stroud based quintet. Their dark and atmospheric explorations of the passions draw influences from post punk psychedelia. They have been likened to Bauhaus and XX, from Joy Division to Nick Cave. Blown away by a Lensmen gig earlier this year, Imogen found herself transported back to her teenage kicks, whilst empowered and inspired by the strength and guttural elegance of both their music and lyrics. Enough to put pen to paper and visualize a response. These are not word for word illustrations, but a haunting melody of drawings, lyrics, poetry and music about honesty, death, empowerment and pleasure. It is real life death stuff.
