I have designed, created and coded my menswear website, The Fix for Men. I created the site with the idea of getting everyday men interested in fashion and styling, to teach them about new projects within the industry, to give them styling advice and to help them discover new brands. I have worked on this project entirely alone and day-to-day I code new pages for the site, interview new people, upload new content and kept site fresh.
Working at London Collections: Men on the Contemporary Fashion floor in the Showrooms at The Hospital Club was an invaluable experience that made me many contacts in menswear.
Responsibilities included (but were not limited to) assisting Senior Retail Co-ordinator with the running of stores and concessions within the UK, Scandinavia, Ireland and India, working on the shop floor in stores throughout London, assisting on the preparation and running of events within London. I also acted as a general office intern where responsibilities included assisting on office renovation, assisting with preparation and running of Sample Sales and acted as personal assistant to Retail Director.
Assisted the styling and fashion teams by managing returns, pulling looks, contacting stylists and organising the fashion cupboard.
Rubbish (a fashion and arts magazine) and Pencil (a creative agency specialising in branding and advertising) are run by the same team. Work with both included assisting casting for an “Adidas by Stella McCartney campaign”, writing online copy, reviewing restaurants, assisting the editor and being the receptionist.
Transcribing interviews from make-up artists and beauty teams for Kathy Phillips (founder of This Works) and Marko Matysik (freelance writer and stylist) during London Fashion Week A/W ’11.
Worked with the PR team; managing returns, surveying Net-a-Porter’s weekly press clippings, pulling looks for shoots and assisting the team.
