About me
Writing an introduction about myself or manifesting any kind of evaluation is already a way of presenting a certain cultural ancestry. People perceive things based partly on what they observe through life experiences but also based on what they are already conditioned to perceive. Such conditioning stems from our surroundings. So here we have a perfect circle, of people creating what they believe could create new meaning but will infallibly always be part of the same system of understanding. I have always been interested in any form of intercultural exchange, especially if such exchange is aimed at new comprehensions of specific scenarios within culture. I’m curious about exploring the intersections of research, practice and theoretical inquiry while analyzing contemporary situations. I'm a Brazilian-German curator, who aims to use art as a tool for social and political analysis. Cover Image: 'Real' by Cibelle Cavelli Bastos

CAFUNÉ is an independently run project space in Berlin, dedicated to the experimentation and development of contemporary dialogues between the northern and southern hemispheres. Among todays elites, assertions about the contrasting merits of diverse human groups are almost always couched in terms of historical differences between cultures. This project aims to work on the demystification of such beliefs. Our vision explores the idea that the predominant dialogue surrounding diversity between opposing geographical locations reflects a juxtaposed understanding of fundamental similarities. By bringing together artists/curators/speakers from different continents, the space will serve as a cultural melting pot and as an opportunity for collaboration between creative multidisciplinary peoples.

Mul.ti.plo Espaço Arte is more than a gallery where works are exposed for visitors’ appreciation; it is an environment where one goes to meet with contemporary art. There, acclaimed artists and new talents offer the best of their productions in multiples and works in paper, objects and paintings, in addition to special projects. The idea is for the space to create the conditions for the visitor’s eyes to find unique ways to relate to art. In addition to trading art, which is selected based on aesthetic criteria of artistic weight, Mul.ti.plo also carries out continuous research projects to identify and promote new works. For its engagement in the circulation of art and for its refusal to make art into a product, the gallery has consolidated itself into a space that invests in launching novel versions, and a place that cultivates exquisiteness. Renewing reflection and aesthetic fruition, attracting non-professionals, stirring new collectors, enriching already structured collections: with the multiples and works in other formats of major Brazilian and international artists, Mul.ti.plo expects simply to challenge the public’s view and promote meetings embracing contemporary art.

Master’s Degree Cultures of the CuratorialAcademy of Fine Arts Leipzig
Cultures of the Curatorial is a postgraduate study program combining application-oriented research practice with academic reflection. It is oriented towards people with different disciplinary and professional backgrounds: in the arts – visual arts, dance, theatre, film and music – as well as in cultural mediation, in the humanities, social and natural sciences. What they have in common is an interest in an engaged work in the cultural field as well as in a concentrated, academically sound extra qualification for their professional practice in the realm of the curatorial. The curatorial is understood as a practice which goes decisively beyond the making of exhibitions and has emerged as a genuine method of generating, mediating and reflecting experience and knowledge. Correspondingly the study program Cultures of the Curatorial thus not only imparts methods of conceiving, organizing and realizing curatorial projects but also the means for analysis, reflection and elaboration of exhibitions and other form of cultural mediation in a transdisciplinary and transcultural context. Background to the study program is the observation that in the course of the 20th C there has emerged specific forms of activity, formats and aesthetic which can be subsumed under the concept of the curatorial. The program is accordingly orientated towards a mutual entanglement of theory and practice: in seminars, workshops and excursions teachers and students are concerned with the historical and contemporary relations, conditions and potentials the curatorial can develop as a genuine method of generating, mediating and reflecting experience and knowledge. The two curatorial projects, in which the students formulate their own statements in front of the current challenges and possibilities, are of central importance. What kind of relevance does the curatorial possess in the cultural field under the conditions of globalization? How do the techniques, strategies and effects of the curatorial relate to those of art and science? Where are similarities or perspectives of mutual exchange? Which characteristics does the curatorial show in the respective arts and which forms does it take on in different cultures? What functions does it take on in the respective aesthetic, social and economic contexts? The program of Cultures of Curatorial is centered on questions like these. A team of teachers at the Academy of Visual Arts and international guests from art, science and curatorial practice shape the four semesters of the postgraduate M.A. program. It can be pursued while working.
