Oozing the cigarette-and-cocktail style of the 1950s, YCN Professional Award winner Jack Hughes’ characters live in a world of sharp suits, coiffed hair and fast cars. London-based Jack graduated from Kingston University in 2011 and now dedicates his time to conjuring up worlds for clients seeking a touch of class to their publications, campaigns and products. “My work contains a lot of mid-century inspired aloof looking men and women dressed impeccably, sat on designer furniture looking out nonchalantly through ceiling high windows at a utopia of wooden and steel buildings, green trees, blue skies and exaggerated white clouds,” says Jack. And he’s not wrong; the crisp aesthetic in which he creates these images panders to the needs of a multitude of brands. A sartorially-aware man himself, Jack’s keen to continue working on fashion-related projects. “It gives a commission an added element that I don’t get with other types of jobs, you have to really think about the outfits you’re piecing together and how they work with other elements.”
