In October i started working for 'Leafi' a company that runs the Whitechapel Gallery and Geffrye Museum Restaurants. I now have further experience in looking after and serving customers, but now in a gallery-restaurant setting. My role includes working on the till, making drinks, serving food and assisting with the preparation of food, setting up and working on events within the institution and maintaining and cleaning the floor to a high standard everyday during and after service.
My work at tank includes front of house management, maintaining and cleaning the exhibition space while also greeting guests and visitors. I organise meetings and studio visits with artists and continue a strong course of research into our artist network. When arranging shows i manage the calendar by planning openings and the duration of each event, i also work out the budget and production costs and directly invoice the accounts team. Working with our artists i deal with the shipping and storage of work, help with the installation and rental of tech equipment or fabrication of pieces. I’ve helped to advise and book accommodation and flights for our artists. I also run the tank.tv website - which involves editing the site, online promotion through social media, mail chimp and e-invites for both online and offline shows. I’ve assisted in mapping out funding applications and building contact with a small supporters network, while also being in contact with press and curators. Another key part of the role is organising an archive of press coverage from this year and arranging photography/documentation of each event we have hosted. For private views i edit and print press releases, posters and flyers, secure drink sponsors and refreshment and maintain security during the night in our Central London location.
I worked as a Sales Associate at Zara, this was an opportunity based in a fast paced environment, i undertook tasks such as clearing the fitting room, helping customers, finding items in the stock room and training new staff for work on the floor.
Charles Harlan - an artist based in New York was due to make some works in London for an upcoming group exhibition. I was enlisted to help make and source objects for the pieces. I had to plan routes around London and keep to strict time constraints.
Gallery Director and Curator Nick Hackworth asked me to design a simple website for his new project space opening in Istanbul in 2015. I have created the branding for the site and will update with new content as it is formed.
After leaving University i wanted to continue developing my artistic practice, learning from Gabriele was a great experience; we have developed a strong working relationship. I made sure to undertake each task with the utmost care and precision. I helped to make work, organised shipping and sourcing of objects for use in sculpture and assemblage pieces.
My position with Hotel was a flexible working schedule, the role involved organising and dating works into an an archivable database, also photographing pieces for shipping and registrations, i contacted galleries and artists for the return of some works from storage.
I worked casually during this time for BOLT in a role helping to contact brands and keep up to date with our social media and contacts on these platforms.
Helping at Open Days and interviewing new students for the BA Fine Art Course.
During my time studying at Kingston University i took on a role as a Student Fundraiser, this involved calling previous graduates from the arts faculty and asking them about their experiences on the course, i would then move the conversation into asking whether they would like to make a donation to the University. In this position i learnt key skills in maneuvering conversations and asking difficult questions.
At University i worked fulltime for Fashion and new culture magazine SuperSuper, i helped to form trend reports, cover fashion events and music and also promote our recent editorial and advertorial content featured both Online and Offline. SuperSuper sadly closed its doors in 2013 but i continue to work with the team on freelance projects.
