I am a proactive creator who loves nothing more than having a project to sink my teeth into. I enjoy every element of the process, from concept ideas to location scouting, script writing and storyboarding/shot detailing, filming/photographing said idea and then finally the post-production process. I am very used to working to tight deadlines and producing material to suit a variety of different mediums and platforms and will always make sure I take an active role at all parts of the process from start to finish. I have 4 years working in video production both freelance and for the company I helped establish back in 2012, along with an additional 4 years working as a freelance professional photographer. From a young age I have had a love of photography. When I was given my first camera I would excitingly snap in all directions; however, back then this was all on film and it wasn’t until my first roll had been developed that I realised what it was I was really doing. My parents have told me that I used to be overly excited by things that only I could see, like a small black dot in a photograph of the sky that I would point to and exclaim, “look! Look! It’s a plane”. I like to think that my excitement, interest and passion in photography haven’t changed much since then though nowadays I have a much larger vocabulary to describe my images. In my time I have: • Produced both video and photography for both my own website and for use on clients websites. • Produced photography for print based gallery exhibitions. • Created my own website using paid customisable Wordpress templates. • Filmed live performances in an array of venues from small pubs to large main stages, from peoples houses to large theatres and concert halls. • Filmed interviews with musicians and business owners. • Produced narrative based music videos. • Produced promotional videos (made of excerpts from past footage collected and pieced together). • Filmed seminars. • Filmed a large-scale scripted circus show. • Maintained an interesting and engaging social media presence over several platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube. I currently posses an array of skills, some gained whilst studying at university and others picked up on the job, these include: • In-depth understanding of video editing and image manipulation using either Adobe programs (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Bridge and Lightroom) or Final Cut Pro X. • The ability to edit audio using either Logic Pro, Ableton or Adobe Audition • Knowledge of sound recording and microphone use. • Broad understanding of an array of camera equipment for both traditional and digital photography. • Broad understanding of both DSLR and camcorder video systems. • An in-depth understanding of lighting for both video and photography, with a preference on using natural light where possible. • The ability to make a subject feel very comfortable and relaxed whilst in front of a camera. • Various reproduction techniques, physically printing in a variety of manners, and for digital use on websites. • Extremely competent with both Apple and Windows systems. • Working with very tight deadlines. • Ability to script dialogue. • Ability to storyboard/shot plan. • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • An ability to convey specific messages and narrative in a cohesive manner. • To be able to work both as a team and individually. • An extensive understanding of social media platforms and how they work to maintain a healthy promotional aspect to a business. • The ability to write in a manner of different tones. • Financial elements required in the running of a business. • Knowledge of licensing, legal applications and royalties in both audio and video platforms Though I have and still do enjoy working freelance and within the music industry ultimately my goal is to get into working on either Broadcast TV or Film production (either documentary or feature), and so recently I relocated to just outside London to hopefully get my foot in the door. I have always had a love for Drama and in specific Period Dramas, where you are transported to a time now past. The development and creation of such a program or film is completely fascinating to me and my dream is to one day be part of the creation of such a production. At the moment I am unsure on what area of either television or feature film production I am best suited for but I am very keen to try my hand at any role. I have recently moved to Tunbridge Wells in the south east in order to progress my career within the media industry and I am looking for a full time position within an established organisation so that I may bring my already learnt skills and learn many more valuable ones working alongside individuals that have significant media experience.
