About me

James Copeman studied graphic design at university and on graduating quickly moved into moving image. After several years as a motion graphics designer, animator and promo director for clients such as e4, MTV, 4music, The Box, Kerrang, he moved into directing music videos. His first videos were for bands such as Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, the Mystery Jets and Biffy Clyro. Later that year James picked up best new director 2008 at the music video awards. His work has been featured in Dazed and Confused, Promo, Arena and Shots magazine. James then directed a series of idents for the Brit Awards sponsored by MasterCard, featuring a live gig by the pet shop boys in a fans living room. Since then he has gone onto direct a series of commercials for the likes of PSA, Kickle, Fanta and Very.co.uk – as well as brand film for Channel 4 Music. Recent music videos include videos for Maverick Sabre, Diane Vickers, Paloma Faith, Eliza Doolittle, Razorlight, Example and HIM. In this period James also managed to find the time to write and direct his first Short Film, Tell Tail, as well as continuing his varied animation work.
