In 2013 I launched a self-publishing venture to write, design, print, publish book, and art directing exciting collaborative projects based around these books, which would amplify the work and advertise it across media and publications beyond conventional literary territory. I have always been keen to connect literature to popular culture, believing it has much more exciting energy and creativity than literature background which are usually reserved for high-art collaborations in classic music and opera. I also wanted to bring high literature (not spoken word poetry, but poetry that has its roots in traditional poetry) and literary fiction in to a commercial and popular culture. I began to design and handmake my own books. I distributed these amongst the community, I managed to get the books in an award-winning bookshop, I arranged live readings where I could sell them at performances, and I created a website where I sold them online. I later wanted to reimagine live performances and contacted an installation artist to create a live stage for live works with a fragmented video project that would disturb and manipulate space in a live environment. And as I have creative skills in music, I wrote music to accompany my live performances I brought onboard some major talent and have created some fantastic work perhaps only hindered by budget affording larger more visionary collaborations. I’ve worked with visual artists, installation art, classical music composer on several occasions, an electronic music producer, a choreographer, as well as writing for large companies like the English National Ballet and Prada. My work has been featured by the Guardian, Dazed Digital, Boys By Girls Magazine, It's Nice That. https://uk.linkedin.com/in/jamesroyblairanderson
