About me
Hello. I'm James, a storyteller and recent graduate from the University of Surrey with a BA (Hons) in Digital Media Arts. I love to tell stories in a range of formats and in the past year, I've worked on several independent short films and music videos including writing, producing and directing my graduation short film, My Friend Daniel, which explores the idea of embracing queerness in the workplace. I see curiosity, empathy and tact as some of my strongest assets and thrive when working in an energetic environment with a diverse team.

My Friend, Daniel - 2019 ShortfilmAfter a less-than-comfortable childhood, Tom, now in his late twenties, has a burning desire to prove his worth through his work. I came to Starling Bank as an intern in June 2017 and quickly became the manager of both social media and the online community forum. Not only did this involve brainstorming, producing and publishing great content which matched the Starling Bank brand and suited our business needs, I also built great relationships with both other professionals and with our customers. I planned and ran two events for the Starling Community and attended many more across the UK. With unparalleled insight into the Starling Bank customer voice, I was able to craft beautiful content and copy for social media, as well as the blog and other marketing channels, which struck a core with our customers. With regular shifts in the start-up environment, I had to be proactive and find my own way to solve problems and teach myself new tricks as and when. Getting my ideas heard and pushing them through the company wasn't without its challenges, but my customer-first approach, open mind and patience always saw me through.
