The Flying Duck is a Bar and Club located in Glasgow's busy city centre. The venue is utilized for club nights, gigs, special functions, art performances and private functions.
Shadow Sound is a recording studio located just outside of Glasgow. It offers rehearsal space, recording, equipment hire and tuition.
Elected to support and represent all Student Radio Stations across Scotland within a UK wide association. As part of this role I was in frequent contact with eight student station managers in Scotland, on-call for both management and technical support and to represent all students in national conferences. I was also responsible for coordinating a regional training day which is best described as a mini conference with invited high profile professionals from the Radio Industry for talks and networking.
I was contracted for a one year industrial placement with Cycling Scotland. My role as Communications Officer included overseeing any marketing, PR, advertising and events, as well as developing any communications strategies of other team members. I was kept on for an additional three months after the end of my contract to train the new incoming Communications Officer. Key Skills acquired: - Creating and developing marketing strategies for local and nationwide campaigns. - Company website maintainence and development: social network outlets, sister pages and news pages. - Liaising with account managers for any PR, advertising or design work. Including creating briefs and setting achievable goals and deadlines. - Organisation of company attended events such as: The Scottish Bike Show, The Scottish Learning Festival, The Royal Highland Show, Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup, TGB Bike Week events etc. - Overseeing and planning budgets for various projects, campaigns and events. - Help manage and create a communications campaign for Scotland's biggest bike ride: Pedal for Scotland (9000+ participants)
During my time at Radio Caley I was able to develop on teamwork as well as my personal leadership skills. My tasks as manager included: - Management of 200 volunteers - Supported and managed various promotional and social events - Oversaw all the station teams: tech, programming, presenters, pr, fundraising and news - Control of the station budget - Dealing with any complaints of fellow team members or listeners appropriately - Creating, ordering and distributing PR material
Graduated with Merit. Dissertation: Copyright in Sound Recording. 3 month industrial placement at the Scottish Music Centre.
First Class Honours Degree.
