About me
I never expected in my illustrious creative career that I would win an award at an end-of-year party for the person who spoke the most about their dogs! Now, next to the award statues in my office, there is a bright blue inflatable dog that plays ‘Gangnam Style’, when you press a button. Having given away my passion for dogs and slightly humiliating myself in the process, let me tell you a bit more about myself. I hail from a small town in South Africa where everyone surfed and spent too much time in the sun. I guess I did the opposite; throwing myself into the intangible world of creativity. This is where I felt most at home. In the blink of an eye, I have clocked up thirteen incredible years in industry as an art director and designer, and I’m now on the verge of seeking a new and exciting career challenge in the UK. What I love about design and branding is its remarkable power to inspire audiences, and it’s my responsibility as a creative to get the message across in new and innovative ways. For me, the norms shift constantly as I strive to bring a unique perspective and voice to what I do. Ideation is what separates an average creative from a great creative and I proudly wear this badge. I believe that even a small idea can be turned into greatness. I consider myself to be someone that has grit and determination. I’m a skilled and ambitious senior-level professional with buckets of experience developing, directing, and executing successful campaigns for high-profile brands. Along with my ability to collaborate effectively with clients, and peers, I am confident in my ability to lead and mentor young creatives; helping them to blossom and find their own creative voices. I am purposefully on a crusade to find and join a team of passionate people who want to take brands to the next level and make a difference. My 8 years of teaching design at a tertiary level has further taught me invaluable lessons in mentorship. My students kept me on my toes, kept me current and inspired my creativity. Going on to see them win creative awards and excel in a highly competitive industry has been a wonderful reward. On a final note I believe the best you can do in life is to strive to create bold, beautiful, original ideas. And one day, hopefully far from now, die peacefully having been proud of your attempts.
