ALEXACHUNG X MET GALA 2019With only a vintage garment to start, I was tasked as an intern to create a lay plan for the print that Alexa Chung would be wearing to the Met Gala in 2019. The lay plan was completely redrawn by myself and recoloured as per the help and collaboration of fashion designers and senior members of staff.

At Alexa Chung I quickly became a valuable asset to the team and got the chance to hone my skills in print design. One of the ways in which I successfully managed this was by being tasked with redesigning a print from vintage for Alexa Chung’s dress which was worn at the event. Although this was a huge challenge it gave me the chance to really prove myself in a short space of time. Alongside this job I was also expected to carry out daily tasks that ensured a smooth running of the studio. Some of what I achieved at Alexa Chung was: - Redeveloping the artwork for the dress Alexa wore at the Met Gala along side working closely with the pattern cutter and design team to ensure that the print was distributed on the dress the way we saw fit and creating an appropriate lay plan from the existing garment used as inspiration. - Reworking and modifying bought and vintage artwork ready for production using CAD. - Creating spec packs for factories to reference. - Provided assistance at London Fashion Week behind the scenes, dressing models and making sure I was on hand to assist the stylist at any given moment. - Updating design boards as required. - Creating CADs of garment and footwear sketches, and also completing colour ups of these. - General admin, filing away of fabrics, working with the production team to create swatch packs for fabrics.
