About me
Hello, I'm Jay Harris - Art Director, Filmmaker, Lecturer and Co-Founder of the dog-loving publication, Mutt Magazine. Currently, I am the Art Director for the world's largest online supermarket, Ocado. Sitting within the Brand and Visual Identity department, my role at Ocado has been nothing short of diverse, challenging but above all, rewarding. Over the last year alone, I have played a vital part in Marks and Spencer's creative implementation, concepted and executed various Shop in shops for Ocado.com and brought to fruition a flamboyant 'Merry & Bright' Christmas never seen before in the grocery industry. As well as my full-time position at Ocado, I am contracted each year as a visiting lecturer for the Fashion Communication and Promotion course at Nottingham Trent University. Specialising in Art Direction and Filmmaking, my time at Trent is spent supporting the second and third-year students in conceptualising and executing ideas and teaching them the tools they need to think more laterally when approaching a brief. Previous to this, I spent two years living in Berlin, developing my craft as a visual storyteller; specialising in Filmmaking and production and became the first person to write and direct a queer short film (Caravaggio's Cupid) set within Germany's prestigious Gemäldegalerie. It is the combination of good design sense and imagination, sensitivity and diplomacy that has allowed me to conceptualise ideas and become the Art Director I am today. Creativity is storytelling and storytelling is what I do.

One Year of Cookie JarCookie Jar celebrates its one year anniversary! The infamous masked London queen Stella Marbles started the party in May 2019 in response to the lack of safe-spaces in queer nightlife. She wanted to give Queer artists a platform to showcase their art on their terms. Welcoming and unapologetic, a haven for transgressive, freaky and non-traditional drag and performance art. Cookie Jar is a place where Queer people can experience their fantasy and share it with others without fear of judgement o

Demonstrating an innovative and forward-thinking approach to both content and design, I took on the multiple roles as a trend forecaster,

This magazine is a vibrant and impassioned piece of print which celebrates rescue dogs in all their glory. It was born of the necessity to both honour a dog’s impact on our lives and to educate readers on the contemporary c

Mutt MagazineChampioning an aesthetic inspired by the exuberant energy of dogs, Mutt Magazine was created in response to our compassion for the cause. Embedding my love of editorial design, vibrant colour and photography, Mutt Magazine is a new niche publication, celebrating rescue dogs by peeking through the keyholes of families and their happy hounds, offering an undocumented glimpse into their second chance at a forever home.
