I am currently an editor at a media intelligence company. My role is to make sure that quality is maintained through all the print, social and broadcast media we send out to clients through fact checking and sub-editing. As a member of the client services department I am also in frequent contact with clients via phone and email. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to learn lots of computer programmes and web applications.
I was an editor at Precise, where I worked on projects for various government and corporate clients. My role was to edit press content from newspapers, magazines and blogs and broadcast content from television, radio and online sources like YouTube and Vimeo to aggregate entertaining and factual content.
I was as an assembly editor for BAFTA-winning director Bruce Goodison where my job was to cut interviews for Cutting Edge documentary My Wall Street, which was shown on Channel 4. I also edited a corporate film for refugee charity DOST.
I worked as a production coordinator for an independent production company making a documentary as part of the BBC Four’s style season called All the Young Dudes about Paul Morley’s personal journey through pop music and fashion. Duties included logging tapes, budgeting, booking shoot locations and talent.
Intern at a company that produced sports webzines including; Catflap, Scrum of the Earth and In Golf we Trust. My duties were to research facts and write short articles for publication in the webzines. I also went on filming days where I filmed using a Sony Z1 and then edited the rushes on Final Cut Pro.
I was in the football department of Setanta where I worked on Premiership, European and non-league football. During my time there I assisted production teams on edits, logged tapes, wrote articles for online and scripts for broadcast and helped create under lays on Avid Interplay.
I have been on work experience at the BBC several times. The first time was during the build up to World Cup 2002 where I primarily did research. The second time in 2005 I wrote for the BBC Sport website. In summer 2006 I went out on shoots to interview people such as Lord Coe and then transcribed the interviews. In my final summer there, I was working with Inside Sport and went out on three filming days covering the UFC event where I got to use filming and lighting equipment.
