-Motivating the design department and clearly communicating the design direction, ensuring an understanding of the trends and their relevance to the brand. Setting targets and reviewing performance. -Sourcing fabrics, trims and manufacturers within budgetary guidelines and brand M.O.Q’s -Liaising with buying and merchandising teams, to determine the price architecture and shop floor assortment. Planning, designing and implementing ranges and assortments meeting this framework, (over 290 design options each season). -Liaising with the production department to determine critical path dates. -Ensuring timely delivery of all tech packs and sample sealing. -Communicating with pattern makers and technicians to ensure understanding of silhouette, finish and fit of each garment. =Communicating and presenting the design direction to the board of directors and buying divisions, and presenting the line opening launch each season. =Liaising with the marketing department and briefing private agencies on promotional directions best fitting the brands Identity and direction. =Identifying new potential product opportunities and communicating proposals to the board of directors.
-trend research each season. =Collaborating with the sales team on a regular basis, reviewing product sales and conceptualizing the direction for the total product assortment. -Planning ranges, designing individual styles, developing colour palettes, fabric type and trims, and developing branding and graphic artworks. -Identifying fabrics, yarns and embellishments that are within budget guidelines. -Collaborating with colleagues and suppliers to manage lead-times, minimum order requirements, and costing constraints. -Drafting of Tech packs for all chosen designs. -Communicating fit and construction details to manufacturers, from development stage through to production approval. -Frequent travel to European and Asian factories, for oversight of execution of programs.
