About me
Graduating from the BA Bespoke Tailoring course at the London College of Fashion in July 2014, I have since been freelancing as a bespoke tailor. I am a very creative and ambitious person. I love to research, developing new ideas into designs, samples and garments. Whether going to an exhibition, seeing a performance or just while I’m travelling, I am constantly inspired by the things around me. I am always sketching ideas and staying up to date with trends. I really enjoy having a brief I can fully immerse myself in and working with an energetic and passionate team.
Projects
  • Guardians of the Orb
Guardians of the OrbGuardians of the Orb is a project I completed in the second term of my second year studying the FdA Tailoring course at the London College of Fashion. It was in collaboration with Harris Tweed, and we were given some tweed to use for our outfits. I made one final tailored outfit from my designs. My inspiration for the title came from looking at the Harris Tweed logo. I thought about football players singing the national anthem before a match, and how they are singing about their loyalty to the q
  • What a lovely Day to Stay Inside
What a lovely Day to Stay InsideWhat a Lovely Day to Stay Inside, is a project I completed during my bridging course from Fda Tailoring to BA Bespoke Tailoring at the London College of Fashion. It focuses on wanting to be outside, so instead wearing the things you want to surround yourself with. I looked at gardening accessories for inspiration and techniques such as felting to give a raw texture to my garments. This project was research based, but I made a dress that I styled for a photoshoot relating to this work.
  • Portrait Class
Portrait ClassI enjoy drawing, especially portraits. Since 2009 I have regularly attended life drawing and portrait classes at Middlesex University and around Bethnal Green. I have also entered the BP Portrait Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
  • Bespoke tailored jacket and trousers
Bespoke tailored jacket and trousersIn my first year at university, I spent a term learning how to make different types of pockets, how to make bespoke trousers and how to make a bespoke jacket. I learnt a lot about different tailoring techniques and have now had the practice to fully understand them.
  • Conforming to Optimism
Conforming to OptimismConforming to Optimism was a project I completed in my final term of the FdA Tailoring course at the London College of Fashion. It focuses on growing up and combines the colour of children clothes mixed with dark business suits. I looked at school uniform and this formed a lot of the aesthetic. I made one full outfit for my final assessment, and then another outfit from my final line up which was shown in the university catwalk.
  • Smile for the Camera
Smile for the CameraFor my final collection on the BA Bespoke Tailoring course at the London College of Fashion, we had the chance to create our own brief. Mine was called Smile for the Camera, where I looked at the idea of beauty and fashion as a way to hide your true self. I compared this to a veneer on a tooth and how the old tooth is hidden behind a shiny new front. For this project I made five full womenswear outfits. I used both production and bespoke tailoring methods and drafted the patterns for the garments myself.

Education
    FdA Tailoring
     -
In the first year, I learnt the bespoke methods of making a men's traditional tailored jacket and trousers. As well as this I also learnt how to put together research to design from, undertaking a new design project each term. In the second year I learnt production methods of garment construction, making a different outfit each term from my designs.
    BA Bespoke Tailoring
     -
In my third year I made my final collection of five full womenswear outfits. For this I used production methods with bespoke finishing. I collated a portfolio of refined research and designs, making samples of the techniques I wanted to use. I then toiled each garment to fit the measurements of my models.
