About me
Surface designer specialising in creating contemporary interior wall coverings using hard, durable materials alongside soft papers. Specialises in laser cutting and engraving while also practicing the traditional process of screen printing with pigments. Taking an abstract view of innovative architecture which is then translated into structural shapes and hand drawn line patterns. Intending to further my research into hard materials and processes, while studying at MDes level at Swansea College of Art. Aspiring to fill interior spaces, injecting new life into the unexpected while investigating a wide range of challenging spatial proposals.
Projects
  • 'Abstract Architecture'
'Abstract Architecture''Abstract Architecture' is a project derived from the creation of patterns, inspired by a multitude of unconventional, innovative and avant-garde shapes found within architecture. The project follows the design and making of wall cladding. Decorative in nature, with functional capabilities, demonstrated across an array of material choices, styles and colour.
  • In Process
In ProcessI regard my design process to not always follow the traditional methodology, due to my unbiased approach toward material, method and inspiration. I'm open to various pathways to produce work and am extremely confident in being able to digest visual information found anywhere between architecture and traditional art, then manifest it into an idea or concept for my collection of works. I love being able to experiment with certain materials and push the boundaries set by their material properties. My working style varies from project to project, I love to alter perceptions of 'patterns' and translate fascinating geometry through patterning and extending the possibilities that have been set before me.
  • BBC Student Design Competition X Camira Fabrics
BBC Student Design Competition X Camira FabricsThis section details my response to a student design competition brief, outlined by the BBC, to design a collection of patterns that could be applied to furniture and interior spaces to feature in their new headquarters in Cardiff. Using Camria fabrics, the brief was to gain inspiration from Welsh heritage, and iconic landmarks in Wales, and transfer such inspiration into abstract geometric shapes to be patterned and applied to fabrics. The patterns were designed to facilitate the growth of productive, but comfortable ambiences within the BBC workspace.
