Freelance and commercial projects remain the backbone of his practice, with pro-bono work undertaken yearly in a philanthropic gesture that is now four years in the making. This has lead to diverse collaborative opportunities, including stints as art director for a number of charitable organisations and events, cementing Jesse’s character as a mature, focused young designer and all-round good guy.
A flexible internship that involved operating within a business that integrates design with production, marketing and sales. Tasked daily to create original artwork merchandise for New Zealand brands and public figures. Whilst learning what makes ‘good’ design that sells, there was a natural development in knowledge for the commercial value of apparel design.
Employed as a Graphic Artist and Customer Service Intern responsible for liaising with clients and suppliers, whilst undertaking a variety of administrative and creative functions; however the core role was graphic design based. Services required illustration, typographical and general artwork design and layout skills, along with client relationship management. New systems & technologies were learned promptly and applied in daily work.
