About me
Woven textiles designer and artist based in Broadstairs, Kent, Owner of JESS ANNE textiles, Creating distinctive fabrics for fashion and interiors using traditional methods of weaving. I'm primarily interested in using colour to create bold statement fabrics. I use lambs wool mostly in my practise, however I am branching out and attempting to start creating fabrics with fancy/novelty yarns to produce more tactile fabrics for fashion use.
Projects
  • JESS ANNE X STAPLE LIFE
JESS ANNE X STAPLE LIFECOMING SOON Myself and a Broadstairs based sustainable clothing company called STAPLE LIFE have worked together over the last few months in order to bring the 'JESS ANNE X STAPLE LIFE SS21 COAT'. This short barber style jacket is handmade in Margate using my handwoven lambs wool fabric to create these light weight jackets. The outside fabric is woven by me in my studio in Broadstairs.
  • Make do and mend: UK clothes rationing during WW2
Make do and mend: UK clothes rationing during WW2My FMP for University Creative Arts in Farnham. This collection was on my take of WW2. Focusing on aspects such as rationing and make do and mend, This collection focused on the practises that was necessary to preserve clothing. This collection of woven fabrics had an over exaggerated colour pallet to emphasise the importance of the make do and mend movement, and how the preservation of clothing was important as funds and resources was slim.
  • Broadstairs.
Broadstairs. This Woven collections of fabric's was inspired by my hometown. The town of Broadstairs situated in Kent, UK is a seaside town where I live. The colours for this collection was based on iconic areas of the town including the most popular hotspots for tourists and also the beach huts on the main beaches. My colour pallet was an interpretation of the vibrancy of colour amongst the seaside town.
