About me
I'm a freelance travel and culture writer and content strategist from the UK. I'm currently based in London and split my time between the UK and East Asia. I'm available for both short and long term projects. I specialise in B2B and B2C commercial content, as well as travel writing, concerning the East Asia region with particular expertise in Japan based content. I've written travel articles for publications across the world including Fodor's Travel, (US) The Culture Trip (UK), Matador (US), Savvy Tokyo (Japan) and Seeker (US) and curate content, as well create social media content, for travel apps like TripScout. I also specialise in SEO strategy, I can identify problems that can keep people from ranking and write SEO-optimised content after carrying out keyword research and competitor analysis. I have also offered consultations to entrepreneurs and bloggers who are struggling with their own SEO strategy and have offered actionable solutions. These solutions have included improving the internal linking structure of their websites, rewriting anchor text to avoid phrases like 'click here' and instead using keyword rich anchor text, rewriting meta descriptions and titles, and making sure content matches the user intent indicated by the title of the article. Born in Wales, I was raised in an Egyptian household which gave me an early taste for the world outside the UK. After completing an English MA, I was lucky enough to spend four years living across East Asia which has allowed me unique insights into Japanese, Chinese, and Korean culture. During my time in Korea, my award-winning travel and culture website Books and Bao was born. We champion culture and heritage-based travel and translated literature from around the world and work with tourism brands who are interested in providing authentic experiences to travellers and publishers of translated literature.
