Currently in my final year studying a BA(Hons) Jewellery degree linked with business management, development and brand promotion, working towards a predicted grade of a 2:1. I am also undertaking a number of Internships, most recently this has included a placement with popular Jeweller Yen Duong. In this role one of my jobs is researching new companies to buy our base materials from and comparing to our current supplier rates. As well as this, other jobs include keeping an eye on Market and Competitor trends/developments and keeping account of stock levels. At the Beginning of the 2016 summer I approached the company On Group ltd for a work placement. With them being able to see my willingness to learn and transferable skills they offered me an opportunity to shadow and work alongside their Head of marketing Jo Body. Within this placement I learnt many things including how a company can reach their target audiences through the likes of social media and email/mail campaigns, as well as how to access the success of the campaign through the different programs and resources they have access to. On top of learning the marketing side to the company I was also invited to learn about the sales and management sides as the summer went on, really enabling me to gain great exposure to the workings of such a large successful company. With skills and experience in the management of teams, engagement with stakeholders, budget planning and commercial management. I offer a fresh, creative approach to any team and am developing into a strong multi-skilled employee.
Tasks I undertook: - Research market and competitor trends and developments within the jewellery industry - Take the lead on booking and organising exhibition events. These included A Most Curious Wedding Fair, Goldsmiths Fair and Handmade at Kew - Continued to build good Supplier relations I also helped to recruit 2 new candidates into the company, a workshop role as well as an admin position. For this I had to: - Write up job specifications - Research and organise websites/places to post job advert - Sift CVs - Be the point of contact for all applicants - Arrange interview dates - Sit in on interviews - Give personal feedback on candidates Key skills developed on placement: - Organisational and time management skills - Communication skills
Main tasks and jobs: - Competitor research - Planned marketing campaigns - Successfully got British Equine approved through the different appropriate boards - Other responsibilities were helping with the upkeep of social media channels, answer incoming calls, place orders onto the e-commerce system, sit in on meetings and take notes, to name but a few. Key skills developed: - Prioritizing work load - Working quickly and accurately - Being able to recognize valuable skills in others and the confidence to ask for help with the set task
Main tasks and jobs: - Reviewed existing social media and on-line presence, defining and agreeing an improvement strategy - Defined and created focused pieces of marketing collateral targeting, both specific demographic audiences and to heighten general market awareness of product/service offering - Contributed specifically to blogs on behalf of Julie - Actively participated in customer requirement and design consultations - Worked shop front Key skills developed: - Microsoft Office - Attentiveness - Persuasion skills
Voted Class representative - Act as the students’ voice into the faculty for this course. Attend meetings with Head of course as well as whole University meetings. Represent students’ issues raised by peers and feedback responses. Voted University Trustee - Act as one of 4 student representatives at University board meetings. Voting on important plans/issues of the university and putting the students’ priorities first. Reporting and communicating back, as appropriate, to the student body.
