About me
In the role of Purchasing Assistant at River Island it is expected to work to changing and challenging schedules and deadlines, using great organisational skills to excel within this high pressured environment in support of the project managers and assistants. Responsibilities range from sourcing suppliers and materials for the growing chain of stores, Liaising with suppliers is an important part of this role, where by it is required to negotiate competitive rates and arrange costing for materials using confidence to control budgets and make executive decisions. This experience has provided transferable skills within buying and purchasing including building strong relationships with contractors, exemplary attention to detail and the initiative to take on senior responsibilities. Prior to my career in retail I worked in coordinating and buying roles within the film industry for 2 years whereby you jump from project to project which can be incredibly unpredictable. Due to the nature of film and its ever-changing schedule I’m able to be flexible and have the ability to take on any situation that presents itself. Having thoroughly enjoyed working in various different roles throughout the last few years, I’m now looking to progress and establish myself a more senior role. I am an adaptable, highly organised and detail-orientated professional with comprehensive procurement and coordinating knowledge.
