About me
Graduating from RMIT with a Bachelor degree in Fashion and Textile Merchandising in 2014, Jessie currently resides in New York, working as an eyewear designer for the prominent Italian eyewear company Safilo. In this current role she overseas the entire design path from conception to the final product. Tracking and analysing of sample movement between international regions, trend forecasting and customer specific design for the North American and Global regions. Having been involved with launching a number of eyewear brands and collections over the past years, Jessie's knowledge and intel into the industry and product creation is second to none. She was awarded the RMIT Young Essentials Program award for excellence in product development by her university and Australian retailer Sportsgirl in 2013. As well as being awarded a full scholarship to study abroad in Vietnam for her final year thesis. Jessie has emerged herself into multiple internships all adding to the development of her education and career as well as volunteering in various fashion projects. Jessie is dedicated in all creative aspects of the fashion industry. Jessie's vision and dedication to this industry is undeniable, she is continuously looking to strengthen and grow creatively.

    Safilo Group is the fully integrated Italian eyewear creator and worldwide distributor of quality and trust, leader in the premium sector for sunglasses, optical frames and sports eyewear. Design inspired and brand driven. This role within Safilo allows me to follow the license brand from concept to final product. Focusing on trend research, market analysis, designing to cost and management of critical paths. Designing specifically for the US market, which will develop into a global brand of eyewear, I was involved with the launch of this brand from the very start. During this process I managed the creation and development of the brands packaging, as well as number or PR and gifting items. All the processes include constant clear communication with the Far East, whether it is our own offices or supplier factories. I have developed my knowledge of costing and margins greatly whilst with Safilo, learning the real meaning of designing to cost.     BBase is an international private label eyewear design and production house, distributing brand specific, market & trend driven designs into over 65 countries to leading international private label retail brands. In my role as Product Development Coordinator I support both the account managers and the product development team in HK, to determine the best product for seasonal development and client specific range building in the North American region. Engage clients on a creative level, with exciting and relevant product and development ideas. I utilize relevant brand and trend knowledge, to lead clients towards brand appropriate product. Holding extensive knowledge of our USA sample library, I help Identify and develop with our Hong Kong office to fill any product gaps. Along with our international development team, I assist in color, shape and trend application for development across the global market. Supporting the account managers, I generate relevant ranges of product for client meetings, understand and communicate client in tell and direction and ensure all samples arrive in a timely manner. Under the direction of Head of Product Development, I assist in creating annual trend content. Covering annual reports for Mido, Silmo, street and festival reports, as well as regular research on retail/brands/trends/social media, which may be relevant to our client base. In this role I constantly cover all market segments, researching social media behaviours and trend adaptations that lead to maximum expansion of the brands current eyewear ownership in store. Understanding each accounts customer persona is vital for ongoing business relations. I enjoy being able to design and develop for the conceptual and contemporary labels to the moderate male shopper. My versatility has given me the ability to adapt designs as concept according to the end consumer.
