I interned at the Italian Representation of the European Commission in Rome. My main job was to monitor and analyse the political and social trends in Italy and report them in a concise manner to Brussels. I was also required to communicate the actions of the European Commission back to the Italian population, for example through the organisation of events and conferences.
I worked within the PR department of the integrated advertising agency Havas Worldwide, working with Corporate and Consumer clients. My main responsibilities revolved around a new client for whom the agency was developing an international integrated advertising and PR campaign. I was given the task of forming a series of answers to potential negative questions that could be posed to the client upon the campaign’s release and I compiled a list of media and political stakeholders who could be approached to help publicise the client. I also contributed to the organisation of a large-scale international initiative for the alcohol brand Chivas where my responsibilities involved compiling media lists for journalistic outreach and researching influential figures who could be interested in helping to publicise the event.
During my first stint at BBH London I had a variety of responsibilities across the strategy, account management and production departments. This included putting together a competitor review presentation for British Airways, aiding with a live brief for Mentos and contributing to creative mood boards for Baileys and Barclays. I returned to BBH a month later where I worked exclusively within the strategy team for Virgin Media. My responsibilities included compiling presentations on recent competitor campaigns, current consumer and market trends as well as researching content for future Virgin Media campaigns.
My responsibilities involved setting up interviews between journalists and the client; helping to organise events; compiling and distributing presspacks; carrying out research; and contributions to pitches for potential clients. I was also required to monitor French media for coverage of my clients for presentation on a fortnightly basis. My primary clients were Bank of America and Axa Research Fund, and I also contributed to work for Mars and UPS.
Work responsibilities included meetings with the client, Pantene, creating my own presentation on competitor brands, and helping to organise an event to promote the brand. Skills learned and developed: team-working, event organization, client communication, working to deadlines.
