– I'm a freelance journalist with a focus on lifestyle – particularly food and travel – working on multiple platforms. I've written for The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Independent, The FT, Vice, Stylist, Conde Nast Traveller, The Simple Things, Oh Comely, and others. – I'm an experienced editor having worked on projects for Floralien, the Department of Business and Skills, Audi, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Breast Cancer Campaign, Fiat. – I offer a range of editorial and copywriting services. Through my work with Naked on the Piano I have worked with clients as diverse as The Canadian High Commission, Tom Dixon, Kvadrat, the Maybourne Group, the Norwegian Embassy in the UK, London Craft Week, and Nyetimber. – I'm a storyteller and communications trainer. I offer training and workshops for agencies and individuals in pitching, how to tell stories, and communicating brand values through your words. I also run a monthly true storytelling night called Tenx9, and another, pop-up storytelling night called Straight Up Stories.
Podium.me is a platform for the voice of the under 20s, expressing their views on every aspect of their lives in a free daily podcasts. As launch editor I took the concept of a daily podcast for young people and made it real. Prior to the first broadcast date in October 2012, I set in place editorial structures and process, and oversaw the content and programming. I recruited and managed a team of 70 aspiring volunteer journalists and audio editors, interning with us across the UK. I briefed them weekly and commissioned features on music, sport and real life. I was responsible for the daily running of the newsroom ensuring there were engaging, quality broadcasts ready for broadcast on deadline every day. I also guest lectured at over 40 universities, about multi-platform journalism and podcasting.
I managed the editorial direction and production process of two magazines and contributed as a features writer to several other magazines, apps and online publications in the company's portfolio. I was deputy editor of Audi Magazine, distributed to 450,000 readers, four times a year. Northstar has been creating the Audi UK customer magazine since 2007, and the magazine sits at the centre of a content hub that feeds a tablet edition (which has 12,500 uniques per issue) and Audi Update, an online magazine for prospects published four times a year that also comes in smartphone format. Consumer-focused, intelligent, and features-led, it's a multiple award-winning magazine, which I still contribute to. As editor of Marie Curie Cancer Care's quarterly supporters' magazine Shine On, and the 42 area newsletters that were delivered with it, I worked with an editorial and design team to deliver a magazine which performed a key role in the Marie Curie Cancer Care community, informing and engaging supporters. Donations attributable to Shine On totalled £1.7 million in the past year, from 90,000 separate donations, averaging £18.88. The challenge as editor of Pink Science, the magazine for supporters of Breast Cancer Campaign, was to launch and develop a magazine with a very different tone to Shine On, and to engage the audience with complex research, while still stimulating demonstrable support and donations to the charity. In October, Pink Science was shortlisted for the CMA Awards Launch of the Year 2012. During my time at Northstar I also contributed features to Feel magazine for Alfa Romeo, Us! for Fiat, and festival programmes for the Goodwood Revival and Vintage at Goodwood.
